Agni

Red Mallee burl · One of a kind

Carved from a single piece of Red Mallee burl, the dense, figured root wood of an Australian eucalyptus. Deep flutes radiate from one point at the centre, opening out like a shell or a seed head. Along the upper edge the natural surface of the burl is left rough and dark, a contrast to the precision of the carving. Named after Agni, the Vedic fire.
